All our bouquets are hand-tied to guarantee the highest quality our customers have come to expect from Aldi. Plus, all our suppliers’ partnerships are with MPS accredited sellers. MPS is an internationally accredited standard that encourages the environmentally aware cultivation of flowers, plants and bulbs.
When you receive your flowers, take them out of the box and put them in a cool place. The outside petals may look dehydrated, but this is simply because the flowers need some water.
Our bouquets already come beautifully arranged in cellophane, and tied at the stem. Remove all the gift-wrapping – but if you wish to keep the shape of your bouquet, simply leave the tie in place.
Cut 2cm of the base of the stems. If you want to arrange your display yourself, simply cut the tie holding the bouquet together. You can then trim the stems at different lengths depending on how you want your display to look.
Arrange them in a clean vase filled with fresh, clean water - remember to add the sachet of flower food provided. To help your flowers last even longer, trim away any foliage that would be submerged by the water as this discourages the growth of bacteria. Don’t place your display near ripening fruit, direct heat, in direct sunlight or in a draft.
To help your flowers last longer it is essential that they have plenty of clean water, so make sure you top it up when needed. Re-cutting the stems every 3-4 days can also help your flowers last longer.
CAUTION – lily pollen can stain and can be harmful to cats if eaten. If you receive lilies, you can remove the pollen stamens to avoid staining. If you do get pollen on your clothes, don’t rub it, as this will make it worse. Instead, dab off the remains with sticky tape or a dry towel.
When they arrive the blooms may have guard petals on the outside this helps to protect them in transit. These can be removed, if required.
The orchid is a beautiful flower that can brighten up a room all year round. As the orchid thrives in humid conditions, an ideal spot to keep it is the bathroom. Alternatively, a sunny windowsill is just as suitable, as this is a plant that requires a lot of sunlight. In the summer, you should water your orchid twice a week, and once a week during winter. To water it, simply place it (still in the pot) in a tray of about 1 inch of tepid water.
To encourage growth and flowering, make sure you remove any dead flowers by cutting the stem above the node below.
